The Ministry of Health and Human Services has officially launched the National Health Professionals Council event at the Decale Hotel in Mogadishu.
The event was attended by top leaders from the Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Health, some of the federal ministers of health Federal State Members, Members of Federal Parliament houses, Heads of other health sectors, Embassies, and International Agencies for Health Operations in Somalia.
National Health Professionals Council (NHPC) is an independent council with a statutory mandate in carrying out its mandate, NHPC stands for the protection of the Health Care System through the legitimacy of appropriate professional standards and morally well-trained.
The NHPC comprises 15 members, 30% of whom are women, representing all health professional organizations in the country, as well as Line Ministers and members of civil society. The Secretary-General and the Deputy were also mandated majority of all Council members.
The National Health Professionals Council (NHPC) will focus on protecting the Somali community from health transgressions and developing ethical standards for Somali health professionals. This is the first time Somalia have a National Health Professionals Council (NHPC).
